Speaking Parts

Speaking Parts is a leadership program for young women focussing on career development and advocacy in the legal profession. The program has two parts: a leadership and career Forum and a film of the forum proceedings.

An important aspect of the Speaking Parts program is cultural diversity and equity and access for all young women. Therefore, there is no cost for attendance at the Form. Also a special effort will be made to include Indigenous and low-income students in the Forum.

The program has two parts: a leadership and career Forum and a Film. The one-day Forum for female Year 12 students will be held in a Victorian Court in August 2008. The Forum will include leading women in the legal profession sharing their career journey. Role-plays will also illustrate Court procedures and various legal issues. The film will be featured on the Future Leaders web site together with explanatory material. A DVD pack will also be available free to secondary schools.

Speaking Parts is an initiative of committed leaders in the legal profession: Her Honour Judge Frances Millane; Barristers Alexandra Richards QC, Samantha Marks and Simone Jacobson; Emily Millane and Helen Sykes of Future Leaders.

The Speaking Parts program is generously supported by the Victorian Law Foundation.
