Future Leaders develops and supports these events and from time to time develops a presentation partnership with Melbourne Conversations, the City of Melbourne’s program of free talks. The Discussion Series aims to bring into focus significant issues for the Australian community, government and business. The events are for a general audience. They also provide young people with opportunities to build on their networks and to interact with outstanding leaders and role models in Australian society.
Abolishing poverty: the human rights priority – “Poverty is the denial of all the human rights. It should be in the museum”. A discussion about creating opportunities for the poor to lead decent lives to their fullest potential like their more fortunate counterparts.

Sustaining a Healthy Body and Mind: Keeping in shape for the future – Can our bodies cope? The speakers will discuss how we will deal with the changing world with respect to disease management, environmental health and the role of pharmacology.

From Melbourne to Copenhagen: What’s our responsibility for climate change? – With the world’s most powerful nations at Copenhagen looking unlikely to produce binding agreements on lower carbon emission targets, urgent and ongoing local action on the impact of climate change is even more important.
